Abstract

This study is to reveal the implied meanings in the language art teaching and learning (T&L) material through the incorporation of the Inquisitive Semantics Approach (IS) introduced by Nor Hashimah Jalaluddin (2014) and High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This study is a qualitative form using text analysis of language art materials. Seven respondents consisting Year Five students were selected to participate in this study. The results showed that the IS approach combined with HOTS were able to help students to reveal the meanings of the language arts materials. This approach was expected to be the best method in guiding students to explore the implied meaning behind language arts materials to produce more quality and meaningful learning impact.
