Abstract

The tourism centre of Poring Hot Spring (Taman Air Panas Poring) is located at Kampung Poring in the rural areas of Ranau city. It is a sub-station to the Kinabalu National Park that has been long developed. The resort is managed by the government in the administration and management of research and education. Meanwhile, the private company where's responsible for assisting in providing lodging and restaurant management was handle by Sutera Habour Company. Through the perceptions of the employees, dealers and the land owners property, this study aims to identify the impact of the tourism centre of Poring Hot Spring (Taman Air Panas Poring) on the livelihood of the local community in socioeconomic aspect. This study used qualitative methods to get the information to answer questions and to achieve the objectives of this study. There are two objectives of this research study which is to examine the involvement of local people in the provision of services and to identify opportunities of the job offered by the tourism centre. The results showed the existence of tourism centre of Poring Hot Spring (Poring Hot Spring) influence the socio-economic development of local population. There are various economic opportunities was open to local residents. The expansion of the economic activities especially homestay, restaurant enterprises and craft stores very dependent on tourist arrivals to the tourism centre. The local resident not only engaged in job offered by the tourism centre but also involved in many business activities. These indirectly help in improving their standard of living. In term of infrastructure, the provisions of some facilities give more benefit to the local resident in order to facilitate Vhe implementation of their daily activities.
