Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate and provide suggestions on the improvement of Bumiputera Small and Medium Industry (SME) chips packaging design under the Usahawan Wanita Angkasa program. Chips made from tapioca and bananas are among the traditional food products that are usually produced in rural areas and Felda settlements. It has great potential to be narketed globally because of its unique taste compared to imported chips such as potato, fish and rice chips. However, these products are inferior in terms of the packaging design. This has led to the difficulty of these poducts to be placed in the local hypermarkets and exported abroad. The objectives of this study is to (1) identufy the problems of Bumuputera SME Industry chips packaging design (2)indentify caausal factors to the poblems of Bumiputera SME Industry chips packaging design, (3) identify consumers perceptions towrds the Bumiputera SME Industry chips packaging design, (4) producing the chips packaging design for IKS Bumiputera as an improvement suggestion and (5) evaluating on consumer's perception about suggested packaging design.
