Abstract

This study aimed to investigate coaching as an intervention to the development of employees in an organization. Specifically, this study aimed to investigate the effects of coaching to individual employees and also to the organization that implement coaching in the workplace. Besides that, this study also investigated the challenges faced by the employees during the implementation of coaching at the workplace and identified the recommendation for the challenges. This study used a survey design. The population in this study are the coaches from one of the National Service Training Department in Sarawak. Eight (8) informants were involved and they were selected by using purposive sampling. Instrument in this research was open-ended questionnaire and the data had been analyzed by using content analysis. Research finding showed that coaching can affect on improving individual employee skills and performance in the workplace and also to the effectiveness of the organization. In the conclusion, coaching is one of the needs as an intervention to the individual employee and also to the organization.
