Abstract
The phytochemical studies and biological activity of Nepenthes ampullaria have been studied. The stem and root of Nepenthes ampullaria was extracted with methanol and partitioned with solvent of increasing polarity in the order of hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and methanol. The OCM fraction of root and stem of Nepenthes ampullaria was further purified by column chromatography and preparative thin layer chromatography. Compound isolated from methanol crude extract, OCM fraction of root and stem was analyzed using GCM~, NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. The istllated compound from methanol -. crude extract of stem was Caryophyllene. Compound isolated. from fraction labeled OCM 07 was Chrysin. Toxicity test on brine shrimps, Artemia salina sp indicated that the hexane crude of root was toxic with LC 50 7.94 ppm.
