Abstract

Twelve isolates of possible grease degrading bacteria were successfully obtained from domestic household greywater after selection process using minimal salt medium with additional 3% (v/v) domestic oils. Among these isolates, three samples were randomly chose based on lipase plate assay activity for further analysis through molecular identification. The three samples were identified as Pseudomonas fulgida strain iCTE16, Pseudomonas fulgida strain iCTE 12, and Pseudomonas mephitica DNA strain ATCC 33665T. Additional test was made on the samples that gave positive result in lipase plate assay activity. Microscopic observation and Pseudomonas selective media (centrimide) further indicated that the identified samples are a Pseudomonas sp. The samples were tested on their rate in grease degrading capabilities. Pseudomonas fulgida strain iCTE 12 was the isolate that has the highest value in grease degrading activity.
