Abstract

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of the Jigsaw Method on students' performance and their perception towards the teaching approach in learning Probability. The instruments of this research were pre-test and post-test, which were given to the control and experimental group. The respondents of this study consisted of 47 form five students from a boarding school in Matang, Sarawak. 22 of them were assigned to the control group, whereas 25 of them were assigned into the experimental group. The questionnaire used in this study was to measure students' perception and for the quantitative analysis. It was given to the students from the experimental group before and after the study was conducted. Besides that, five students also from the experimental group were interviewed as to support findings from the questionnaire and test. The findings showed that the Jigsaw Method improved students' performance in post-test, but not significantly different from the control group. In terms of perception, there was a significant difference after the students had learned by the Jigsaw Method. Lastly, the result indicated that there was no significant relationship between students' performance and their perception towards the Jigsaw Method
