Abstract
Echotheology approaches offer a unique lens to examine the impact of human and non-human interactions, especially in the context of spirituality and religion. By exploring how religions and cultures respond to environmental issues, echotheology seeks to bridge the gap between theological traditions and environmental science, thus encouraging a more ethical and sustainable approach to the planet. This echotheology-based community service is a collaborative initiative between IAIN Ambon and the University of Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in Santubong, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. The program aims to integrate theological values with ecological awareness to encourage people to protect the environment based on spiritual and moral approaches. The activities include Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) that explore the concept of local wisdom-based institutions, environmental movements based on moral values, interviews with communities and observations to observe environmental conditions and practices related to natural resource management through educational tours as well as to introduce local culture and ecological values to the community.
