Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between factors that influence employees' work motivation at Everrise in Kuching, Sarawak. The methodology that was used in this study was a survey. The questionnaires were distributed to 90 employees in different departments but only 53 sets data of employees were selected for the analysis. The independent sample T-test indicated that there was no significant difference between male and female in terms of their level of motivation. Similarly, a two-way ANOVA revealed that there were no difference between employees of various age categories and various lengths of services in terms of their level of work motivation. The findings obtained from Pearson Correlation Coefficient Analysis suggested that all the five independent variables showed a positive relationship with employees' work motivation. Work itself showed a strong relationship with the dependent variable while compensation, recognition, achievement, and interpersonal relationship showed a moderately strong relationship with the dependent variable. The results of regression analysis showed that work itself was the most dominant factor that contributed to the variance in employees' work motivation and followed by achievement. Compensation, recognition, and interpersonal relationship did not act as predictor in work motivation because multicollinearity existed between them with one of the predictors. Therefore, the finding of the study suggested that Everrise should put more emphasize on the organization's work itself system in order to increase employees' work motivation. The understanding in the dominant factors that contributed to the motivation of employees can help the management to make effective decision on how to boost up the motivation level of employees, and thus increased the organizational quality and productivity.
