Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the factors in safety training program which were trainee's attitude, training content, learning environment and training method with the accident rate at the workplace. A set of questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. 160 respondents of Antara Steel Mills Sdn. Bhd. workers were chosen as a sample of this study using random sampling method. Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis were used to analyze the data. From the Pearson Correlation Analysis, all the studied factors namely trainee's attitude (r = .498, P = .000), training content (r = .456, P .000), learning environment (r = .266, P .001) and training method (r = .526, p .000) had a significant relationship with accident rate at the workplace. In addition, for the Multiple Regression Analysis, training method was identified as the dominant factor of this study (R2 = .327). It is hoped that this study will help in providing guidelines to the organization and human resource practitioner in designing an effective training program by considering all the important factors.
