Abstract
Go kart racing grew rapidly in our local sports scenery. Therefore, there is a need to improve the department own go kart which had been given a named as Mech Tech-Initial. In this project, it is focused on stress analysis of a Mech Tech-Initial 's chassis with welded joints which was performed by using Finite Element Method. A Finite Element package so called ANSYS was used for the simulation. Determination of the stresses of a Mech Tech-Initial's initial chassis is important for design improvement. This project is accomplished in order to check the magnitude of stress at the point which is believed to be loaded frequently at different load. Numerical results showed that the maximum stress that is obtained from the simulation process is 22000 N which may lead the chassis bended. Additional support at the chair may be a simple solution to increase the stiffness of the chassis.
