Abstract
Water is used in most process industries for a wide range of applications. Processes and systems using water today must comply with environmental regulations on effluents and there is growing demand for fresh water. These changes have increased the need for better water management and wastewater minimization. Water minimization techniques can effectively reduce overall fresh water demand and the overall effluent generated. Thus. result in lower cost of fresh water and effluent treatment cost. Water pinch analysis relates to wastewater minimization techniques with simple methods by using graphical approach. This project describes wastewater minimization study carried out for a selected plant. However, because of process restrictions, some information cannot be gathered and assumptions have to be made. The objective of this study is primarily based on reducing the overall fresh water consumption and wastewater produced in this plant and utilizing water pinch technology.
