Abstract

This study aims to determine the perception of non-executives employees towards the effectiveness of on-the-job-training (OJT) at Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara. Sarawak. This study also determines the relationship between the supervision, workplace, communication, and training methodology towards the effectiveness of OJT. There were two variables in this study, namely the dependent variable (the effectiveness of OJT) and independent variable (supervision, workplace, communication, and training methodology. Thirty-three non-executives from Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara participated in this study. The data was collect by using a standard questionnaire and tested by using the Statistical Package for The Social Science such as Pearson Correlation, I-Test, and One-Way ANOVA (Scheffe test). The One-Way ANOVA test showed that the selected demography (age) had significant relationship towards the effectiveness of OJT. The finding also showed that the gender have no significant relationship towards the effectiveness of OJT. The Pearson Correlation analysis showed that: supervision (r=0.376, p<0.05), workplace (r=0.539, p<0.05), communication (r=0.6 16. p<0.05), and training methodology (r=0.747. p<0.05). The findings showed that supervision, workplace, communication, and training methodology had the significant correlation towards the effectiveness of OJT. It was suggest that future researchers do a comparative study on other organization to determine the differences in non-executive perception and the other factors influence the effectiveness of on-the-job-training.
