Abstract

The comparisons of mean wastewater quality from different residential areas in Kuching City was carried out by laboratory analysis using standard water parameter. Six residential areas in Kuching were divided into three groups based on their socio-economic status. Tabuan Height, Green Height, Bampfyle Height and Kenny height residential areas were classified as high-cost residential areas. Hui Sing Garden residential areas considered as medium-cost areas. RPR Batu Kawa are considered as lowcost residential areas. Ten parameter namely DO, BOD, COD, TSS, Total Coliform Count, pH, nitrates, orthophosphates, ammonia and oil and grease were analyzed to determine the wastewater quality. The wastewater sample collected five times. The study indicated that the low-cost residential areas contributed to the highest pollutants generates into their drainage systems. Interview was conducted to gauge public view towards the implementation of ECOSAN pilot project in Hui Sing Garden.
