Abstract
Ethnozoology is a sub-field of anthropology concern on interaction between human and animal. Five different areas have been selected and visited from August 2005 to March 2006. For Iban communities, two different locations were visited namely Nanga Segenok Kampung Sungai Buloh, Kampung Bidak Plaman was visited for Bidayuh communities while: Kampung Bako was selected for Malay communities. Lastly, few villages in Matu/Daro were visited for Melanau communities. Informacion was obtained through survey and interviews on local people in selected areas. However, the information and data collected during survey was confining to selected area and study duration. Surveys found that the Iban and Bidayuh was highest consumer of wildlife compared to Malays and Melanau communities. Sun bear and sambar deer was found as the most profitable wildlife. economically medicine and decoration. This study also reveal that wildlife trading Still occurs in three wet market visited in Kapit. Sibu and Kuching divisions. Some animals involved in trade are protected animal such 8S porcupine, pangolin and monitor lizard. Therefore. education and public awareness are very important as wildlife conservational efforts to make sure these animals will exist for longer period.
