Abstract

Pile, is basically a media that has been used to transfer load into the ground. The soil will try to resist the force through friction between the contact surface of pile and soil or to resist the load when the pile tip touches the hard layer of the soil. Thus, piles are used when the top soil is in weak condition or in other cases, whenever there is high load. The methodology of the analysis shows that the pile itself is modeled by Beam Element having an axial stiffness. Soil, in another case is represented by Wringker's spring model. In the present study. analysis is carried out to study the effect of soil modulus (Es) and (Lid) ratio on settlement of pile. Further more, the comparison of pile settlement between homogenous soil profile and non-homogenous soil profile is proceed as well. The objective in the analysis is to design the pile in such a way that the pile itself will operate at its highest efficiency without have any consequences of over design as well as under design. Finally. the result indicated that the settlement of pi le decrease with increment in soil modulus (Es) and (L/d) ratio.
