Abstract
Rubberwood is very popular for making furniture since rubberwood is relatively abundant, sustainable and cheap. Preservative treatment is needed in order to extend its service lite for exterior applications. The purpose of this study was evaluate the toxicity of new organotin compounds as potential wood preservatives based on weight loss due to Trametes versicolor, Schizophyllum commune and Rigidoporus microporuS. The toxicity of ligand and various organotin (iv) compounds concentrations against Trametes versicolor, Schizophyllum commune and Rigidoporus microporuS was tested on MEA agar for three weeks period. The average blocks weight loss due to Trametes versicolor, Schizophyllum commune and Rigidoporus microporuS was decreased with increased level of concentration and different ligand and organotin (iv) compounds. Retention and FTIR spectral analyses were done to examine the net ligand and organotin (iv) compounds uptake and reactions of the compounds taking place in wood during fixation. Evaluation of ligand and organotin (iv) compounds showed that [Bu2Sn(C15H12N4O3)] compound inhibit wood degradation hy Trametes versicolor, Schizophyllum commune and Rigidoporus microporuS. The [C15H14N4O3] ligand, [Me2Sn(C15H14N4O3)] and [Ph2Sn(C5H12N4O3)] compounds were less toxic at similar concentration.
