Abstract
The ecological study on CI),Cryptocoryne Pallidinervia Engler was carried out at three different locations vis. Sg. Keranji (Lundu), Sg. Batu Triso (Sri Aman) and Sg. Lingga also in Sri Aman. The habit of C. Pallidinervia at Sg. Keranji and Sg. Lingga was considered rheophytic while at Sg. Batu Triso was within intertidal zone. The stomatal index (SI) on the upper part leaf was 0.009,0.010. and 0.016 at Sg. Keranji, Sg. Batu Triso and and Sg. Lingga respectively. The stomatal index (SI) on the lower part leaf was 0.011 at Sg. Keranji, O.O16 at Sg. Batu Triso and 0.019 at Sg. Lingga. The mean leaf length of C. Pallidinervia at Sg. Keranji was 6.15 ± 0.19, Sg. Batu Triso. 6.65 ± 0.19 and Sg. Lingga, 5.51 ± 0.14. The mean leaf width at Sg. Keranji was 2.88 ± 0.08, 4.09 ± 0.15 at Sg. Batu Triso and 4.18 ± 0.08 in Sg. Lingga. The mean length of petiole was 12.28 ± 0.37, 11.37 ± 0.43 and 13.83 ± 0.58 in Sg. Keranji, Sg. Batu Triso and Sg. Lingga respectively. The highest total dry weight and total number of individual from I m x 1 m quadrate were in Sg. Lingga with 88.26g and 343 of individual. The highest total leaf was at Sg. Batu Triso (734/m1) and total leaf area was highest in sg. Keranji (38 502cm2). The highest dry weight was at Sg. Lingga. Dry weight of leaf was 22.6g, dry weight of petiole was 19.91g and dry weight of root was 45.75g. The highest leaf area ratio (LAR) was founded at Sg. Keranji (627 ± 148.15) and has no significant different with the location of Sg. Batu Triso (232.S9 ± 19.29) and sg. Lingga (169.42 ± 26.93). Specific leaf area (SLA) in Sg. Keranji (1910.77 ±338.23) was significant (p< 0.05) with sg. Balu Triso (575.36 =32.10) and Sg. Lingga (473.74 ± 30.49). The leaf weight ratio (LWR) in sg. Keranji (0.35 ± 0.08), Sg. Batu. Triso (0.41 ± 0.03) and Sg. Lingga (0.07± 0.04) was not significant (p> 0.05). The petiole weight ratio (PWR) was highest in Sg. lingga (0.25 ± 0.03) followed by Sg. Batu Triso (0.21 ± 0.02) and 0.19 ± 0.04 in Sg. Keranji. The petiole weight ratio (PWR) shows that there were no significant different among the three location. The root weight ratio (RWR) shows that there are no significant different (p > 0.05) whereby the root weight ratio at Sg. Keranji was 0.45 =0.11, Sg. lingga (0.40 ± 0.04) and Sg. Batu Triso (0.39 ± 0.07). The total above ground biomass (TAGB) was 64121 kg/ha or 64.12 ton/ha. The most dominance species in the study site of Sg. Keranji was Hevea brasiliensis (IV=75.45) and the least dominance was ElaocarpuS griffithii (IV= 3.22). Dry pH of Sg. BatU Triso (3.3) was considered highly acidic compared to Sg. Keranji (4.4) and Sg. Lingga (4.1). The Nitrogen percentage was higher at Sg. Batu Triso (1.63%) followed by Sg. Keranji (0.33%) and Sg. Lingga (0.28%). The total organic carbon was higher at Sg. Batu Triso (45.06) followed by Sg. Keranji (6.63) and Sg. Lingga (4.58). The Ca, Mg, K and Na were 1.04 +cmol/kg, 0.31+cmol/kg, 0.12 +cmol/kg and 0.11 +cmol/kg at Sg. Keranji respectively. At sg. Batu Triso, the Ca. Mg, K and Na were 1.83 +cmol/kg, 5.42 +cmol/kg, 0.62 +cmol/kg, O.8O +cmol/kg as at sg. Lingga were 2.08 +cmol/kg, 5.36 +cmol/kg, 0.28 +cmol/kg and 0.51 +cmol/kg. The cation exchange capacity (CEC) was higher at Sg. Balu Triso (22.83) followed by Sg. Lingga (13.33) and Sg. Keranji (7.88). The clay was 4.03% at Sg. Keranji, 10.73% at Sg. Batu Triso and 36.80, at Sg. Lingga. The silt was 5.76%, 3.15% and 50.45% at sg. Keranji, Sg. Batu Triso and Sg. Lingga respectively. The soil fines were 53.63% at Sg. Keranji, 77.29% at Sg. Batu Triso and 8.25% at Sg. Lingga as the coarse of Sg Keranji was 36.58%, 8.83% at Sg. Batu Triso and 4.51% at Sg. Lingga. Base saturation of Sg. Keranji was 20.05, sg. Batu Triso with 37.98 and sg. Lingga with 61.74.
