Abstract

Recently many cases of missing children between ages 3 to 10 years are reported especially in public area such as shopping mall and hospital. The increasing prevalence of children wandering in the public area has made many parents very worried. Therefore, parents need to observe their children's safety through monitoring their movement and location to ensure they are secure all the time. Child tracking and monitoring system is increasingly popular but specific system design for tracking child 's location has not been well established especially for indoor location. This study proposed an Android based solution application for Mobile Based Kid Tracking System using Wi-Fi to effectively and efficiently track children's location by utilizing Wi-Fi Positioning System. The proposed system takes the advantage of the location services and uses the existing Wi-Fi services found in the Android mobile phones. The system using the signal strength from Wi-Fi access point in a certain area to determine someone location based on Wi-Fi-enabled device. The system also allow parent to add their own map or take image from existing map and then display their current child's location on a real lime map. The Significant of this project will increase the security level of the children and allow parent to monitor their children thus keep them away from missing in public area especially in shopping mall.
