Abstract

Neolamarckia cadamba is one of the timber species with high potential in the timber and pharmaceutical industry due to the fast growing characteristic. The molecular characterization of N. cadomba can be done by using molecular marker to obtain the information of N. cadamba. Three ISSR primers were used in this project for determining the genetic diversity and relatedness: (GTG)6 (AC)10 and (AG)10. Three ISSR primers had produced 64 loci which were 54.69% of them were polymorphic and the mean value for Shannon's diversity index was 0.2678. Jaccard's similarity coefficient for combine primers was in the range of 0.09 1 to 0.762 for molecular diversity. UPGMA dendrograms and neighbour joining tree were constructed to show the relationships of N.cadamba samples. The N.cadamba samples can be grouped into ten clusters for combined primers data. The overall studies showed that the N.cadamba trees were genetically diverse and related within the population from Niah, Lawas and Pasai Bon.
