Abstract

The Electronic Arts and New Media specialization, Fine Arts Programme, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, through the Underwater Imaging course, takes an initiative to organize a Scuba Diving course and Coral Reef Conservation programme with Nudi Dive Centre and Fishery Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia) for students to enhance their knowledge in underwater photography and videography, not only theoretically but also practically about the benefit of being an underwater scuba diver imaging expert who concern on ocean environment and marine life that must be protected for a future sustainability world. Students will also be exposed to scuba diving knowledge, underwater recording equipment and compass handling on the seabed. All the planning and preparation has been meticulously done to ensure that all the students will be able to carry out the coral reef cleaning and monitoring activities while enjoying the real-life imagery of the coral reefs and marine life on the seabed which will be captured in animated caricatures, photography and videography to be shared with the public for the purposes of art, science, technology, education and future research.
