Abstract

This study aims to explore the arguments for and against Turing Test as an operational test of intelligence. The objectives of this study are to discuss the Turing Test, to explore the arguments given by philosophers attacking and defending the Turing Test and finally to discuss whether Turing Test is the right lest to measure intelligence. Hence, the arguments are analyzed from two perspectives: from the angle of philosophers who are defending and attacking the Turing Test. The stud y has shown that philosophers defending the Turing Test claim that it is a good test 10 measure intelligence and further claim that machine can pass Turing Test in the foreseeable future. However, there are also philosophers who disagree with those claims. As a conclusion, the issues of Turing Test remain unanswered as so far no one has been able to come up with a satisfactory and valid argument accepted by philosophers in answering the question about Turing Test.
