Abstract

This study was to investigate the relationship between task oriented leadership and relationship oriented leadership behavior with the organizational commitment of workers at MS ISO 9001: 2000 organization in Kuching city area. This survey had been conducted at Kuching International Airport which involved 60 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed hr descriptive analysis and Pearson Correlation. Pearson Correlation was used to examine the relationship of task and relationship oriented leadership behavior with the organizational commitment. The independent variables fbr this survey were task oriented leadership behavior and relationship oriented leadership behavior while the dependent variable was organizational commitment among the staff which consists of affective commitment, normative commitment and continues commitment. The findings of this study shown that there was a relationship (r = 0.675, p=0.01) between task oriented leadership behavior and organizational commitment at MS ISO 9001: 2000 organization. It shows that both variables are very significant. Meanwhile, the findings also shown that there was a significant relationship (r = 0.650, p=0.01) between relationship oriented leadership behavior and the organizational commitment at MS ISO 90001: 2000 organization. These findings mean that both task oriented leadership behavior and relationship oriented leadership behavior played a very important role in influencing the organizational commitment among the . staffs to maintain the organizational performance of MS ISO 9001: 2000 organization..
