Abstract

The issue of compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by construction site workers is a significant concern in the construction industry. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is consequently crucial to the safety of construction site employees. Several deadly incidents have been documented in the construction sector, making it one of the most hazardous industries to work in. The purpose of this research is to investigate the compliance and the awareness with the use of PPE at construction site, thus pose solutions in the strategy of improving the PPE adherence towards the safety standards. The methodological process starts with data gathering, by distributing questionnaires to construction site workers that works under CIDB registered contractor in Selangor, Malaysia. SPSS software and factor analysis was used to analyse the data. Based on the analysis, the mean scores indicate that construction workers in Selangor exhibit a high level of compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and demonstrate strong awareness regarding its usage. Additionally, the strategies implemented to promote PPE compliance have received positive feedback from the workers as it carries many advantages.
