Abstract
The high initial cost of sustainable efforts, as well as the difficulties of assessing long-term returns, make it challenging to connect profitability with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between Sustainable Development Goals and profitability Malaysian listed companies. According to Resource Dependency Theory, companies can increase their profitability and market positioning by strategically managing external dependencies in order to obtain necessary resources and support, thereby aligning with the SDGs. This alignment with the SDGs enables firms to secure essential resources and support, thereby improving operational efficiency. Until now, the connection between SDGs and profitability presents a combination of outcomes; certain research demonstrates a favorable relationship, whereas others propose difficulties arising from the initial capital investment needed and the possibility of conflicts with immediate financial goals
