Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the mediation role of self-efficacy in the relationship between training framing and training effectiveness. Previous studies, found out that the more the trainees’ familiarity with the training contents the more self-efficacy was generated (Bandura 1986; Ford et al. 1993; Mathies and Marthieau 1997; and Tai 2004). Trainees’ with high selfefficacy will demonstrate more training effectiveness which include learning and transfer motivation. Self-efficacy can be trained and to increase the trainees’ self-efficacy, supervisors or managers can provide the information that was related with the training program such as training attributes and training environment (Tai 2004). This study used quantitative research survey. The data were collected from 120 employees of two Malaysia Government agencies who had attended training program. The data were analyzed descriptively using mean and frequencies and inferentially using Pearson Correlation, Multiple and Stepwise Regression. The findings show that there are significant relationships between training framing and training effectiveness. Moreover, the study also shows that self-efficacy significantly mediate the relationship between training framing and training effectiveness. This study has indicated that the trainee self efficacy does mediate the relationship between training framing and training effectiveness. Therefore, trainee self efficacy are suggested as important factors that will increase the employees desire to transfer what they have learned into the workplace. Moreover, the knowledge about the most significant trainee characteristic that predict the transfer of training is useful in designing the training program that can enhance the transfer of training.
