Abstract

Birth order is widely decided on how humans are smart, nice, responsible, highly social, emotionally stable, and open to new experinces which are also known as the common human experiences in life. However, most studies only focus primarily on Western countries and only limited studies on birth order and empthy. Therefore, big five inventory and Multidimensional Empathy Emotional Scale are used in the questionnaire to investigate the effect of birth order on personality and empathy. Results shows that there is no significance difference between birth order and personality also with empathy. Furthermore, firstborn has higher effect on Agreeableness than middleborn and lastborn. Even so, this study is using small sample and future research should consider applying wider population and specified personality questionnaires on this topic
