Abstract
The housing market plays a crucial role in shaping the social and economic landscape of a society. As individuals and families set out on the path of homeownership, several factors, such as structural characteristics, location, financing options, and the neighborhood, come into play and influence their housing purchase decisions. This study is based on data that was collected from 322 respondents in Kuching. The findings of this research contribute to an understanding of consumer behavior in the housing market and offer valuable insights to real estate professionals, policymakers, and researchers. By analyzing housing demand and buyer preferences, policymakers can indirectly shape housing policies and promote increased homeownership. Essentially, the comprehension of housing preference is crucial for the buyers’ decision-making, particularly first-time buyers.
