Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the factors and effects of teenage pregnancy out of wedlock. This study was conducted in Kampung Senah Rayang, Padawan. This qualitative study was conducted by interviewing online using the application "WhatsApp" to collect data. Five respondents who were selected purposefully, that is, the selection of the respondents of the study subject must be a respondent who is pregnant out of wedlock. In addition, the researcher also used the Snowball technique in this study to determine the sample to collect information from respondents. The results of the study have shown that the factors that drive adolescents stuck with extramarital teenage pregnancies are the development of information technology, romance among adolescents, weak family relationships, high curiosity and male sweet promises. The results of this study also found that the effects of teenage pregnancies out of wedlock are the mental health of adolescents affected, affecting the good name of the family, the health of the baby is affected, and adolescents are beaten and excluded from the family. Finally, the researchers also found what adolescents who became pregnant out of wedlock did to deal with their pregnancy situation. The results of the study of the steps taken by adolescents in dealing with their pregnancy situation are to regret mistakes, receive advice from family members and focus with work. In conclusion, parents play an important role in controlling their child’s behavior so as not to get caught up with social symptoms such as free sex that lead to extramarital pregnancies.
