Abstract
The use of xylanases in several industries has grown significantly for many years. Xylanases is widely utilised in a variety of industries, including pulp and paper, food, textiles, bio-fuel, animal feed, and beverages because of its hydrolysis and other qualities. The objectives of the study was to isolate xylanase producing bacteria and to screen the xylanase activity of the bacteria from soil of Annah Rais Hot Spring. The soil samples were collected at three different area from the hot spring. Five isolates were selected for screening of xylanase activity by well diffusion method. Two isolates which are isolates NA3 and NB2 were selected for further analysis due to obvious clear zone. Both isolates were cultivated in flasks with 1% beechwood xylan in order to achieve the ideal growth conditions and to generate a greater quantity of xylanase. Isolate NB2 showed the highest xylanase activity, 7.36 U/mL followed by isolate NA3, 2.31 U/mL. As can be seen, isolate NB2 is a more effective producer of xylanase than isolate NA3. Due to the significant xylanolytic activity of isolate NB2, additional study needs to be undertaken to explore its optimal enzymatic activities
