Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to analyse the overall performance of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and its relationship with economic growth (GDP) during the period of first quarter 2006 to third quarter 2014. The study resorted to econometric modeling such as unit root tests, Johansen and Juselius (1990) cointegration test, and Granger causality (1969) test. The empirical result from Johansen cointegration test reveals the existence of long-run or equilibrium relationship among the variables. Besides, the finding from Granger causality indicates that there are uni-directional relationship between MAS cargo service revenue, MAS passenger carried revenue and economic growth. The interpretations of findings in this study signify the influence of Malaysia Airlines toward economic growth for Malaysia.
