Abstract

The study assessed the factors that influence the high turnover among employees in private sectors of Kuching. The objectives of the study were to examine the relationship between independent variables (job satisfaction, job promotion, laissez-faire leadership, stress) and employee turnover in private sectors of Kuching. The theoretical framework of this study was derived from the Herzberg Two Factor Theory. Research instrument used in this study was questionnaire. The sample size of this study was 270 respondents. This sample was picked by using convenience sampling method. 20 employees were used for pilot test before the commencement of the study. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for data analysis. Descriptive analysis was computed and data was presented using tables. Based on the findings, there is a significant relationship between independent variables (job satisfaction, stress) and employee turnover in private sectors of Kuching. There is no significant relationship between independent variables ( job promotion, laissez-faire leadership) and employee turnover in private sectors of Kuching. The generated information helps the employers to be able to understand the factors that lead to employee turnover intention. The study helps the private sector department to come up with the policies which improves the performance and reduces the employee turnover intention.
