Abstract
In this study, cassava peel which is a type of agro-wastes has been used to fabricate green adsorbent; Cassava Peel Waste (CPW) powder. The fabricated CPW powder as an adsorbent is investigated for removal of Copper(ll) ion and Congo red dye from aqueous solution. This adsorbent is able to remove both contaminants with equilibrium time of I and 2 h for Congo red dye and copper (Il) ion, respectively. The adsorption kinetic data are modeled using Pseudo-first-order and Pseudosecond-order kinetic models. The kinetic data for both contaminants are well fitted to the Pseudo-second-order kinetic model with correlation coefficient, R, of at least 0.999 and 0.997 for Congo red dye and copper (II) ion, respectively. The adsorbent is characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy Analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Microscope Analysis, Particle Size Analysis and Acid and Base Analysis .
