Abstract

Weather are so unpredictable and cannot be foreseen. In the blink of an eye, especially in Malaysia, the weather can change rapidly. This is very difficult for daily life that very much dependent on the weather for drying their clothes. Furthermore, hectic and busy live style would add more difficulty and anxiety to monitor the situation at home. In this report, the author will create and build a prototype system named An Automated Retractable Awning with Raining Sensor that can protect the covered area house from rain. This system, has the ability to inform the weather and the state of the awning when users are not at home only by sending notification via Android smartphone. This will relieve concerns of users when they are at work place. Apart from that, users are able to manually control the awning when they are at home if they want to sit back and relax. In this project, the existing system will be reviewed and evaluate for comparison. From the review, a complete system will be generated to meet the project objectives. Possible merger of microcontroller technology and Android smartphone will make it easier for the user to control and provide comfort to their daily lives.
