Abstract
RPS9 is an essential ribosomal RNA (rRNA) responsible in binding protein with extraribosomal function related to cell proliferation and p53 interaction pathway. Thus, becoming a potential factor in inducing cancer. In this study, we are focusing mutational analysis of uS4 gene specifically in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Hence, cell lines derived from nasopharyngeal carcinoma (HKI) are going to send for sequencing which later will be compared with data from NCBI. Beforehand sequence analysis, the us4 gene underwent gradient PCR as to obtain the optimum annealing temperature for the primers. Unfortunately, none of the PCR product yield a reliable band. In conclusion, this project is unable to prove the occurrence of mutation in the gene that might involved in the development of NPC. This is because failure to proceed to sequencing due to of the no-band result of the PCR products.
