Abstract
A study was carried out on the distribution and environmental study of Polymesoda spp. in Kota Samarahan area to determine the species distribution, diversity, abundance, sediment grain size and in situ water parameters. A total of two marsh clam species, P. expansa and P. bengalensis collected from five sampling stations including the adult and juveniles. Out of 194 individuals collected, 182 are adults and the remaining 15 individuals are juveniles. The sampling area was dominated by P. expansa. The average shell length for P. expansa is from 0.74 cm to 8.15 cm while P. bengalensis from 1.32 cm to 8.51 cm. The silt-clay composition of the sediment was carried out to determine its relationship with the distribution of marsh clam. The research questions emphasize on the availability and distribution of Polymesoda spp. in Kota Samarahan area.
