Abstract

Fast and Easy Fungal Identification (feFiD) kit is produced to make fungal identification are faster and easier than conventional fungal identification. This is due to the identification at the morphological alone are not enough in identification of fungal especially at the species level. The aim of the research is to test the application of feFiD kit in identification of macro-fungi and micro-fungi isolated from the fieldworks and determine the limitation of the kit on various types of macro and micro fungi. There are total of eight samples of macro-fungi, and seventeen' samples of micro-fungi had been successfully identified by using feFiD kit. Identification of all samples was done by aligning the DNA sequences using BLAST analysis to search for closed match sequence in GenBank database. Based on the result obtained, all the samples revealed to be from three different phylum which are Basidiomycota with eight species identified, Ascomycota with sixteen species and one species from Zygomycota make it twenty five different species in total. The identity score from BLAST analysis for all samples were in range from 85%- 100% for all samples.
