Abstract

This paper is dedicated toward the view in educational purposes that concerning on the·documentation of research conducted with the tittle of motive "Lemetak" in Iban cleaver called Ilang. The objective of the research is to explore the meaning of the motive used as a reflection toward the culture of Than in Sarawak. As the used of this motive were lessly found nowadays because there was a leakage on contextual data about it, the researcher found this as an opportunities to conduct the research that will benifit many parties include the younger generation that emphasize more toward the used of "Lemetak" motive in Than cleaver. This researcher will conduct the research in qualitative methodology within Sarawak area and emphasize more toward the producer of Ilang cleaver in sibu and the society located in Lubok Antu district, Sri Aman. The outcome of the research will be adapted in producing a contemporary seramic sculpture with the used of hand building technique as a final artwork. All the information stated on this work were hopefully can be a guideliness and references for the research in future.
