Abstract

Absent or skipping to school is very common issue among primary and secondary school students. It is well known as truancy and will be categorized as one of the serious discipline problems in primary and secondary school nowadays. According to dictionary of Pearson Education Limited, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 2003, truancy means “the act or condition of being absent from compulsory education” or “any intentional unauthorized absence from compulsory education”. There is an issue where school students not entering the school although their parents have sent them school every day. Even after months the parents never notice this issue where their children are not attending the classes until the teachers personally contact parents and inform them. This project is mainly about developing a reliable tracking, recording and notifying mobile application using biometric fingerprint identification in order to monitor school student’s attendance system and notify the absent to parents. In our country even in the digital era, school student’s attendance is taken by class teachers in traditional method where teachers have to call out names to make sure the student attend school. Usually teachers use papers or books to record the attendance. But this data of attendance only can last for minimum one year. This method can easily allow for data sheet to be stolen or lost. after few years the data won’t exist anymore, therefore in order to record and keep the data safely, there should be a system or application where the data can store for more time period.
