Abstract

The study Semiotic in Feminism approach was conducted to examine the effectiveness of Semiotic elements which are suitable for conveying the message related to Feminism issues clearly to the audience. The aim of this research is to see the relationship that exists between Semiotic and Feminism and how the two streams is capable of producing an artwork that can attract the audience. The researchers wanted to find out what is the Semiotic elements that can be applied to an artwork and make it into a tool or medium to convey a message very effectively and clearly. Methodology used in this research is qualitative method in which researchers analyze the portfolio by Cindy Sherman, Untitled Film Still and also made an informal interview with the students of art relating to both Semiotic and Feminism. The methods are used to facilitate researchers to obtain the findings and overall it helps to achieve the objectives and answer the research questions.
