Abstract

Malaysia is a multiracial nation and well known for its rich culture. Sarawak is the largest state of Malaysia where it is comprised of many indigenous groups. Each of them have their own distinct language and culture. Every language is defined differently from one another due to their own uniqueness in pronunciation and grammar. Additionally, language brings impacts to our daily life as we communicate with others from any races, creed, and region of the world on a daily basis. However, many visitors including inhabitants of Sarawak are not exposed to other indigenous languages other than their own. Besides that, they may not know how to speak other indigenous language even though they have heard it before, the meaning of the spoken language, and where does that spoken language from. UNIMAS has developed an Android application named “Kalaka”. The application is very helpful for the community especially for those who are linguists or researchers who want to keep track of the languages data such as the pronunciation and the meaning of the spoken language. Although Kalaka is a very helpful language data collection tool, but it has its own limitations. It does not has a proper management procedure for the user to manage their data. Then, the application has some difficulties in searching for desired information when application records a large amount of data. Therefore, a webbased system for managing language data from Kalaka is developed for usersto overcome the problems. The web-based management system allows users to manage the content of the language data and analyze the collections of data. On the other hand, this system also provides an opportunity for all the user to learn various indigenous languages. In short, this system could ideally assist users in managing language data from Kalaka
