Abstract
Non-ionic surfactant derived from kojic acid was synthesized and analyzed. The synthesis of non-ionic surfactant was done through esterification process of polyethylene glycol stearic ester with purified kojic acid. The structure of the synthesized compound was confirmed by using FTIR and 'H-NMR and 13C-NMR. The properties of the synthesized compound such as its critical micelle concentration (CMC), cloud point, wetting time, foaming and foam stability, pH value and also emulsion stability were determined. The synthesized surfactant has low CMC and wetting time value, neutral pH value (pH7.5), cloud point at 57'C and high foaming and emulsion stability.
