Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the distribution of invertebrates in UNIMAS lakes. The study was also conducted to determine the relationship between physico-chemical parameter of the water with the invertebrate community. The distributions of invertebrate in UNIMAS lakes were influenced by few factor such physico-chemical parameter of the water, changes in weather, impact of anthropogenic activities, and type of soil. The invertebrate were collected by using kick net, plankton net (100μm), Van Dorn Water Sampler and Van Veen Grab Sampler. The parameter of water was measured by Multiple HORIBA model W-22XD. The results show that Cyclopoida and Cladocera is dominant at pelagic areas at UNIMAS lakes while Oligochaeta is the dominant benthic organism. The community of invertebrate is highest at east lakes compared to west campus lake. There are 11 taxa present in the UNIMAS lakes. Cladocera shows high potential as an indicator to determine the changes of disolved oxygen in the UNIMAS lakes.
