Abstract
Keombok’an is a tradition practiced by the Bajau people on the east coast of Sabah especially in the Kampung Seloka Empat, Bum-bum Island, Semporna, Sabah. The term of keombok’an refers to the ancestors believed to help smooth the Bajau ethnic life if they practiced and performed according to what is inherited in the descent. The devotional rituals use the spirit of crocodiles for medicinal purposes, warnings and repulsions, as well as the annual rituals of family members to practice. Through this study, the researcher will be able to identify the structure of the performance in the ritual of keombok’an magbuaya.
