Abstract

Organizations should be aware of the changes that are happening around them, and they are expected to be ready for the changes. Their competitors outside are ready in preparing themselves in every condition possible so that they would not be left behind. Readiness for changes in the organization is vital for the organization to survive. Besides, there is several researches on the issues of readiness in the context of other countries. Nevertheless, there is not much research on studies been carried out in the Malaysian context. The purpose of this research is to study the relationship between employees' commitment, communication and leadership styles to employees' readiness for change in the telecommunication sector in Sarawak. A cross-sectional study is adopted, and questionnaires are used as instruments to collect data. Simple random sampling is used in selecting the respondents for this study and the data is analyzed using statistical method. The findings of this study have revealed that communication is the most dominant factor that influences employees' readiness for change. The findings also showed that demographic factors such as gender, age, length of employment do not influence employees' readiness for change. This finding contributes to the knowledges for Human Resource practitioners and for employers to take into consideration employee's readiness before implementing any new changes for the organization in order for employees' to successfully embracing the change without having to felt burden with the implemented change.
