Abstract
This study aims to explore the job characteristics and job satisfaction among academicians in selected public university. More specifically, this study has identified job characteristic that is skill variety, task identity, task significance and autonomy and feedback of the academicians. Furthermore, the study examined on the perception on job satisfaction among academicians. Purposive sampling is used to get the informants for this study. The findings of this study have academicians revealed about their job characteristics. Teaching and learning, writing in research and publish, consultation, community service as well are the main task as an academician. The findings also showed the perception of academicians toward job satisfaction. Last but not least, the findings from this study is important to contribute knowledge and theory for empirical study and future researcher. Furthermore, it helps HR practitioners to have and create a desirable work design to be considered for a better job enrichment. Awareness of worklife balance and creating polices at the same time. It is essential and help to improve the productivity and performance as a comprehensive university.
