Abstract
This research is conducted to investigate the issues and challenges in women leadership in public sector. This research also to identify the strategies that can be implement to overcome the issues and challenges in women leadership in public sector. A qualitative research was used in this research and semi-structured interview used as research instrument. A total of four informants which consist of female leaders from Pejabat Residen Kuching and Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat Kuching had agreed to give information. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis whereas the data was categorized using themes. Findings from this study indicate that there are three main issues in women leadership which is stereotypes, work life balance and emotions. The challenges faced by women leadership are career advancement, impression and technology. Lastly, there are three strategies that can be implemented to overcome the issues and challenges which is flexible working hours, being professionalism and communication.
