Abstract
This study explored the strategic role of mid-level managers in the implementation of organisational learning. By focusing on public sector organisation, this study attempted to bring new insights to the body of knowledge. The present study also investigates the learning process of the organisation. This research adopts the interpretive research approach to acquire an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon of the organisational learning process in public sector organisation. Purposive sampling method was used where informants were chosen based on their organisational position and job description. Eighteen informants were taking part in this study, where they were from a different educational background. Empirical data for this study were collected through semistructured interviews and documentary analysis, where the researcher also employs his reflexivity to observe the deep-rooted phenomenon of the research theme in the study location. The data were analysed using a qualitative content analysis approach. Findings from this study revealed that organisational learning process in public sector organisation obtained a new look through several reform initiatives by the government and organisation itself; also mid-level managers are playing the central role to acquire, disseminate and retain knowledge in the organisation by their strategic role in the organisation. This research may be a guideline for the learning and development practitioners in the organisation. In particular, the study tends to enrich new ideas in human resource development practices from the viewpoint of Bangladeshi context as well it will be a guide for the mid-level managers to become the learning agent for their respective organisation.
