Abstract

Inadequate coordination chemistry infonnation is available on the hydrazone and thio/carbohydrazone-organoin(IV) complexes as well as the potential biological activities they might have, five series of hydrazone and thio/carbohydrazone ligands and their organotin(IV) complexes were decided to be synthesized. The five ligands namely methyl pyruvate benzhydrazone [HMPB, (1 )], thiophene-2-carboxaldehyde benzhydrazone [HTCB, (2)], carbohydrazone bis(2-hydroxyacetophenone) [H3CBA, (3)], thiocarbohydrazone bis(salicylaldehyde) [H3TCB, (4)] and pyruvic acid thiosemicarbazone [H2PAT, (5)] have been synthesized via condensation reaction. Subsequently, five series of organotin(IV) complexes have been synthesized by direct reactions of RnSnCkn (R= Me, Bu, lBu, Ph; n= 1, 2), base and ligands (1-5) in dry methanol with 1: 1: 1 or 1:2: 1 mole ratio under nitrogen atmosphere. All ligands and their organotin(IV) complexes (6-28) have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivity, UV-visible, FTIR, IH and I3 C NMR spectral studies.
