Abstract

In general, the Sarawak music industry has been known to exist as early as in the 50s. At the beginning of this research nothing much are known about the music industry in Sarawak. Only few written records on the industry are available. This research intended to focus on the historical perspectives on the Iban music scene in Sarawak. There has not been much research works by other researchers on the Iban music. Music industry in Malaysia very much focused in the Klang Valley. This is different in Sarawak that tends to focus on the Iban music. The Iban music still grows even during the economic downturn period. This research aims to help in developing the Iban music network, sales record marketing, Iban artist and those people who are involved in the Iban music industry.
